5 Things you didn't know about Seoul
Seoul is the largest city and capital of South Korea. With a population of 10 million, it is the largest city proper in the world. Its metropolitan area is home to 25.6 million South Koreans and 632,000 international residents making it the second largest metropolis in the world.
The city of Seoul has several UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Changdeok Palace, Hwaseong Fortress, Jongmyo Shrine and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty. For this reason alone, you should make a trip to the city.
There are several other hidden nuggets I bet you don't know about the city. Below is a revelation you will find interesting.
1. You can make free phone calls from the South Korean Subway Stations...and yeah, you read that right! This is one of the great things about visiting a rich country, they do not fret over small things.
2. It is true that Seoul is the best place to visit in South Korea, but there are a number of several other cities that you need to visit. Trust me; it will be cost efficient for you since the Visit Korea Committee offers free bus rides from Seoul to Jeonju.
3. Are you travelling on a lean budget? You can have a lunch to your feel by just sampling the various Korean dishes in the supermarkets. If you doubt it why don't you just go to the supermarkets and see for yourself?
4. Do not be surprised when you open a fridge of one of your Seoul friends and find charred wood logs. The South Koreans believe that the charred wood keeps their fridge fresh.
5. If you forgot your smartphone charger at home, don't sweat it. In most of the convenient stores, you can charge your phone for free. The store owners reckon that it is a smart way of keeping you longer in their store and thus increase the chances of you spending more money there.
Seoul is a great city. In fact, I dare say that it is the best city in Asia to vacation with the family, friends or fiancé. The city gives good value for money.
